Rosemary's birthday is the 24th of July, we went to Calico Basin and had a picnic with Josh, Lisa and girls. We hiked a little bit and enjoyed the Vegas summer.

Bob and I watched Madison when Jason took Lauren out for her birthday. This gave us time to make Lauren a birthday cake. Madison was so excited! She helped pour mix and stir. Then she wanted to make pink play dough with sparkles. We made Cherry play dough with red glitter. She loves to work in the kitchen. Sunday the family came over for Lauren's favorite meal, with maddie's cake for dessert and homemade peach ice cream. Then the girls decided to surprise Lauren with a special play dough sorbet! They had so much fun creating birthday treats with the play dough. Happy Birthday my sweet Lauren, you were a wonderful child and know you're a wonderful adult !

We went to California this weekend to see Bob's dad Charles McIntyre & his wife Lyn.

They live in Yucapia Calif. Bob's dads health has taken a turn for the worst, he has dementia.

Two months ago he fell and broke his leg and they had to do surgery and put a rod in it. Since then his health has declined. It was so good to go down and visit with them. Look at his beautiful skin and hair! It comes from the Allen side of the family, Mac looks just like his mom, I am so glad Bob inherited some of the good Allen genes. Mac Is 77 yrs old and looks great! It was a great visit!

We took Jesse, Lindsey and the boys to Disneyland this past weekend. My mom and sister in law also came with us! We had so much fun!! My mom was a good sport, she went on alot of rides with us. We stayed at the Disneyland hotel, it was so nice to be able to go back and lay down for a bit! We watched the fireworks from our room!

We love fried turkey, so this year we bought the new fryer that you can cook indoors! It was so wonderful! (No sitting in the cold and the flame blowing out from the wind) This new fryer cooks up to a 20 lbs turkey! We cooked two turkeys and it took about 2 1/2 hours total! They were wonderful!!! We are talking about doing a deep fried prime rib for Christmas!

Florian David Houston
1927 – 2010

Florian David (FD) Houston passed away August 9th at the age of 82. He was born August 11, 1927 in Las Vegas, NV to David Edward and Nelda (Waite) Houston. The oldest of four children including: Ronald Houston (deceased), Sherry Hafen and Larvin Houston.
FD graduated from Virgin Valley High School and seminary in 1945 where he played football and lettered all four years. After high school he entered the Navy and served on the USS Astoria until the end of WWII and was released from active duty in August 1946.
After his discharge from the Navy he attended Utah State College where he supported himself as a fry cook. After attending college, he returned to Mesquite to work as a history teacher and coach at Virgin Valley High School. This is also the time when he rekindled his relationship with his high school sweetheart Betty Arlene (McKnight) Houston. They were married on April 30, 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George temple on July 11, 1964. Together for 62 years they had five children: David Clark & Judy (Peterson) Houston, Debra Kay Houston (deceased), Lisa Michelle & Robert McIntyre, Pamela & George Browne and Darrin Florian & Yvonne (Steedon) Houston. They have 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
As a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served in numerous callings including: Elders quorum president, ward mission leader, high priest group leader, bishopric and temple ordnance worker at the St. George temple for 12 years.
FD was a successful entrepreneur owning several businesses in Las Vegas and St. George. After retiring from these businesses he quickly began his second career and was instrumental in the planning and development of Summit Mountain in Utah. He also served on the Beaver Dam volunteer fire department board of directors. His passions were his family, church and work where he devoted much of his time, talents and energy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Littlefield Chapel. The viewing will be held on Friday, August 13th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm and August 14th from 9:30 – 11:00 am at the Littlefield Chapel.

I want to write down my memories of the day dad passed away for my record.
We had several tender mercies from the Lord on the day my dad passed away. My dad's heart quit working in the emergency room, they shocked his heart and brought him back and then put him on dialysis. Dad said to the doctor he was having a heck of a time getting to his 83rd birthday (he was short 2 days). This gave my siblings and I all time to get to St. George and be with him. When we arrived at the hospital he had been on dialysis for 2 hours. His potassium was 7.5 the normal is 2. This is what caused his heart to stop. The dialysis pulled the potassium out of his blood.

When we arrived he was looking pretty good, we were all able to visit with him for about 1 1/2 hours. They asked us to leave while they put in a port for his medicine. My brothers David & Darrin gave my dad a blessing. My mom and sister Pam and myself were all gather around him during the blessing. We left his room after his blessing, while they put in his port.

It took about 15 minutes, we came back in and visited and loved and kiss our dad, told some funny stories and laughed. His nurse came in and said we need to leave again while they did a chest x-ray and took him off dialysis.

We went out into the waiting room for intense care, at this time we all called our families and told them dad was doing so much better and we expected him to get better again( he has rallied several times before).

We had been out for about 15 minutes when my dad's nurse came running out and told us to come quick he was dying!!! We ran into his room and he was slipping away, we told him we loved him and we would take care of our mother. We told him to look for our sister who died at 9 weeks, and his parents,( My sister Pam is always the funny one in our family, and she said remember dad look for your mom she is the one with BIG earrings on). He relaxed and went peacefully to the other side. We stayed with him for about 45 minutes, during this time the dialysis nurse was still putting all of her stuff away. She told us how she talked with him and how he told her about each one of his children, what we did, how many kids we had and grandchildren. He told her how proud he was of all of us and he loved each of us. Dad knew his time was short here on this earth,and he made sure we knew how he felt.What a blessing to know what he was saying to others shortly before he passed away. My mom told me she wondered if his spirit knew he was going, on Saturday he had his brother and sister along with their spouse come and have dinner with him and mom, they laughed and visited. All day Sunday every time my mom was close to him he insisted she give him a kiss. Losing my dad has been hard! It does not matter how old they are, or what a good life they had. You still never want them to go. I miss him and I am so glad he was my dad! He had a wonderful funeral, on Saturday August 14Th. There was about 450 people came to the funeral, and we had 140 for the family lunch afterwards. My dad loved pasta, our family friend who is a New York Italian. Made her famous spaghetti sauce another family friend made a small birthday cake for dad.

We also had lasagna and green salad. I am sure Dad was looking down and loving it! My dad died on 8-9-10 a day we will never forget! Dad always said his birthday was the happiest day of his mothers life, Grandma Nell was missing him and pulled him up to heaven so he would be with her on his birthday!

Bryce Canyon

We all loved the hiking and seeing the beautiful sights. We also found great cabins and a restaurant that makes great food! We stayed at Ted Canyon Indian Store, R.V. Park and Campground. Nothing fancy, but we stayed in the cabins there. We ate several times at Bryce Canyon Pines they have homemade Pie and Soup. It was a great trip!

Circleville for the 4th. When the kids were little we would go and spend time with Sheree and Corey and their kids. We love going! Sheree was my roommate in college and Bob and Corey are like brothers. Are kids get along great! We love the Fullmer family! Josh, Lisa and girls, Lindsey, Jesse & boys, Emily and Bruce and Rosemary came with us. We went horse back riding, 4 wheeling,fishing and visiting! The fireworks show was spectacular! Today we celebrated 30 wonderful years together. It seems like just yesterday we were beginning this journey by being sealed in the St. George Temple. We have had our ups and downs but through it all we have been there for each other and our families. We look forward to many more wonderful years together no matter what they may bring. At this juncture in our lives we have been blessed with wonderful family that continues to grow. Our five grand kids keep us young at heart. Our lives are full.

Goodbye old Friend

For several months we have debated about what to do with Bear. She is 171/2 years old and has been with our family since she was 8 weeks old.

Over the last year she has lost her sight and hearing,she had a large tumor behind her right arm, and many other issues. We could see she was suffering, today we finally decided to end her suffering. My niece Melissa was her groomer, so she went with me to the Vets. Bear left this life peacefully and is now in Heaven running and playing! Our family will miss her!

We started Spring Break with Lisa having knee surgery! ( They shaved her shin bone and put her knee cap back in place then put screws in it PAINFUL). She will be down for awhile, I have had the girls, while Josh and Cindy( Lisa's mother) are taking care of her. We went to see the Easter Bunny Lily started to cry when we got close, so Grace got her picture with him. We went to the hospital to visit, then today all the kids came over and we colored Easter Eggs! Lot of Fun!

My Aunt Thelma Abbott Lived A Great Life!

These are pictures from my Aunt Thelma's 94th birthday party last year.

The top picture is with Thelma and her daughter Cindy who she has taken care of until last Tuesday when she passed way in her sleep.

Thelma out lived 2 husbands raised 9 children she had 161 great grand children and 18 great great grand children.

She had a wonderful life, with several trials.

I always loved to go visit Aunt Thelma & Cindy! She was a fabulous cook and she made my first pant suit when I was in 6th grade and the school district finally allowed girls wear pants! This was HUGE! I was so proud of my polyester pant suit.

Thelma loved to garden and was good at it!

She served in the Las Vegas Temple for several years she retired when she was 92!

When I got the call on Tuesday morning about her passing away, I came to my computer and pulled out my pictures of her birthday and her testimony she wrote for me 5 years ago!

She was devoted to her Heavenly Father & family!

I am so blessed to have great example of strong women in my life. And they all are devoted to their church and their family! Both of these things have gotten them thru the hard times in life, and it is their example that I look to when I am going thru trails.

In the bottom picture is mom in the purple her sister Mable Mitchell who is 93 and my Uncle Dick is 87.

Corbin had his birthday party yesterday at his house. He loves batman so he had a batman party. Lindsey made capes for all the kids! It was lots of fun!They came over tonight for Sunday dinner, so we sang again to Corbin!

We love to drag our birthdays out for as many days as possible. Tomorrow is his actual birthday and he has another day of fun planned! Happy Birthday my big boy!Grandma & Grandpa are taking you to dinner and Toys R Us on Saturday!!!

2010 Came In With A Bang!!!

2010 Came with a bang for our family!! We went to Disneyland and had a wonderful time. Shortly after our trip my dad was brought down from Mesquite by ambulance to Centennial Hospital and was put in ICU for 2 weeks.

Our family lived at the hospital taking turns to watch over dad! We came very close to losing him, and we are eternally grateful to still have him with us! It was very scary for me I have been so blessed to have both of my parents for so long. My dad is 82 and my mom is 79. He is better, but has to live on dialysis 3 days a week and has many other issues! They now have home health care to help mom with his many health concerns. Which has been a blessing. The picture above is mom & dad at Christmas with Madison.

Then a week and a half after dad was out of the hospital Coleson was put in Summerlin hospital with RSV he was there for 4 days. Lindsey was also really sick with adult RSV and Strep. They both laid in the hospital trying to get better. We watch Corbin because RSV in so contagious. I am grateful for priesthood blessings and the power of prayer in my life.

I also have been put in Young Women's, I am the counselor over the beehives. I love my new calling and the girls are fabulous!! Life has been busy and I am enjoying every minute of it!!

We had a great Christmas Eve, Darrin & Yvonne were able to come home for Christmas.

( Darrin gave his kidney and Yvonne got a new kidney that matched her in a six way kidney transplant at Scripps hospital). We missed Jesse and Lindsey they were in Canada for Christmas. Auntie Em drew Josh and Lisa's names for Christmas, so when we came upon these Zhu Zhu pets she had to get them for the girls!!! They LOVE their rodents. I bought the girls disney night gowns!

I have my nieces and nephew over the Christmas Break. My brother donated his kidney so his wife could get a kidney that matched her. They both had surgery at Scripps in San Diego December 15 and 16th, It is amazing how this came to be, my brother wanted to donate a kidney to his wife but was not a match. He went to Scripps and talked with the transplant coordinator, They have been working on this for a year. The coordinator then started putting the pieces together. It affected 6 people. 3 people who have been on dialasis, now have new kidneys! This is a gift of love, I have been trying to keep my kids busy while their parents are away. We have been to the dollar store twice to play a game, we draw names I give the kids money and they go buy a gift for that person. They love running through the store shopping! Monday we went ice skating for 4 hours, Then for FHE we made Christmas cookies!! Tuesday we went to the Bellagio to see the flower garden and chocolate fountain! then we went to the fashion show and saw the wonderful Christmas show!! I take my kids every year! At the end it snows! Then we went to brass pro shops, they have a great Santa and Mrs. Claus. They had target shooting with paly guns and bow. We had a fun day! Brooklynn and Remington feel asleep in the car on the way home!! Today we are going to the Chipmunk movie! It is going to be a fun Christmas Break! My brother and his wife are doing good, we are hoping they will release them for a few days to come home for Christmas! Have a Merry Christmas!

Today we went to the mall and saw Santa!! As you can see this is not the happiest place on earth!!! The only reason I was in the photo is because we couldn't get the two criers to go without grandma!! Lunch was great afterwards then they all wanted to go by and see Santa from a distance.

I love Christmas time because there is so much family time! It is great to be together and think about the miracle of Jesus' birth and his life. It is a time to try to be more Christ like in words and actions. I love the song "I am trying to be like Jesus". This is what I try to do everyday. Some days are better than others, but I keep trying. Have a wonderful Christmas season.

We have so much to be grateful for, we have a great family and everyone is healthy at the moment! For Thanksgiving we had it at my brothers Darrin's house. We had 40 people,We cooked 2 fried turkeys,1 roasted turkey, 1 spiral baked ham, 30 lbs. potatoes.12 pies,stuffing,green beans, 5 dozen rolls and pomegranate salad.We had family come from all over! It was a great time!

My Birthday was October 24th, Josh planned a wonderful breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi. Bob kept me busy for 2 days. We went to dinner to the cheesecake factory Friday night, then went to the King and I. Great play! Next day breakfast at the Paris, shopping,movies then came home to a surprise party! It was great to see friends and family. Then Sunday Lindsey and Lauren made me dinner with all of my favorites! It was a grand 50th birthday! Oh I got my AARP card in the mail on my birthday! Now I feel old! Thanks for everyone who made this a great weekend!

I have Teddy Bear Portrait come every September and do my preschool pictures!! They all get a tote bag and I buy them a tee shirt with their picture on it. This company specializes in young children. This Saturday we went to St. George to celebrate my brother's 60th birthday!!! We had a great time with all the family (but Cameron, we missed you). And so many friends!! I didn't know David had so many friends. Judy put on a great dinner for all of us, I think we had about 50 people. Of course we went early and went to Santa Clara for tomatoes, peaches and apples. Then to Tai Pan for some shopping!! Great day!! Happy Birthday David!!

For Bob's birthday this year Josh and Lisa gave Bob a weekend of camping and fishing.
Bob's birthdays was in March, but with Bob's and Josh's schedule this was the 1st weekend they could go. Lisa was a good sport and stayed home with the girls. ( I gave her a little break and took the girls for a few hours on saturday).
Josh took his dad to Bishop California to fish and camp and explore!!! They had a great time and caught a few fish. One of the highlights was when they were fishing in one of the lakes they saw a California fire fighting helicopter in swooped down and sucked up 500 gallons of water to take to one of the fires. It did this 6 times while they were fishing Bob said "it was an AMAZING SIGHT"!!! I am so glad they still enjoy father and son bonding time!!

Today Is the 7th year anniversary of the car accident Emily was in. This picture was taken at EFY 2 weeks before the accident!!! In the picture from left to right, Ryan, Sammi, Emily, Robbie.
Ryan lost his life in the accident. Today we think of him and what a great person he was! He always took care of my girls! He was a brother to Joshua. Ryan loved my children, teased them, and cared for them, and we loved him ( He also ate all my hot tamales!!!!!)
We are so grateful at this time for our miracle in Emily and how far she has come! We appreciate all our family and friends on the many prayers, food, visits, fasting. and concern for our family during this time.
I am grateful for my other children for all that they have been through. We learned through all of this that FAMILY and your FAITH can get you through anything! We still have hard days, but we are so grateful for all our many blessings that our Heaven Father has showered on all of us. Hug your children today they are the most important thing in your life! We are also grateful for the Sneed & Ozawa families and their friendship and love!

Emily is turning 21 on July 1st!!!! Grandma & Grandpa Proctor (Bob's Mom & Step dad) are in town from Port Angeles Wash. visiting, we have been celebrating alot while they are here! We went to Olive Gardens with Em, Josh and the babies for lunch.I think we are working on singing 21 times to Em for her birthday. That nigh Grandma & Grandpa took us to Macayo's for dinner and they sang angain to her. Then on Sunday all the family came over to celebrate Em's Birthday and Father's day for Grandpa Bruce!

What do you buy a guy who has everything he wants and needs? I took my 80 year old dad for a spa pedicure. He LOVED it!! I made my mom get one to for her birthday that is in a couple weeks. Elegant nails in Centennial shopping center has a deluxe pedicure for and extra $10.00

they use a mint scrub that is wonderful!! ( Who wouldn't love to have you legs massaged). Mom & dad loved their present. Then we went to dads favorite place to eat JASON'S DELI!!! He loves the Reuben sandwich! It was a great day!! My dad is the best!

We blessed Coleson today while Jesse's parents were here from Canada. Jesse gave Coleson a wonderful blessing. We missed Josh and Lisa they were at the temple for a friend sealing. I had preschool graduation May 28th. The kids did such a good job singing, and doing their sign language alphabet. I always let the kids plan the program, they asked if we could throw their hats like in high school musical. Of course I said yes, What a darling picture! I have been reflecting on my college days at SUSC which is now SUU . I know I am dating myself. I LOVED COLLEGE I met the most amazing people there. I had great roommates over the 4 years I was there. My friend & roommate Evelyn Johnson in the glasses, died 2 weeks ago suddenly after being diagnosed with cancer.
Bob had his missionary discussions at her house. She was a wonderful friend to all who knew her.
My other roommate and friend Sheri who I am sitting next to in the welcome to SUSC picture.
We have stayed friends all these years. We have Laughed together, and cried together. Our husbands are friends & enjoy the same things. Over the years we have loved spending 4th of July in Circleville with our friends the Fullmers. Our children have become friends. Sheri, Corey and the boys came by for a short visit on there way back from Calif. We love when they come, we always pick up where we left off and talk, talk, talk!! We love you guys!! Hopefully we can see you on the 4th and do some dutch oven cooking up the mountain. Circleville puts on a great fireworks show!!!

My Grand babies love to pick my tomatoes, so today I called Corbin, Grace & Lily to let them know I had red tomatoes. We take turns picking, we go by age. Then they get to eat it. Last year I bought a tomato plant at costco and sat in on the front porch, it did so well we had tomaotes all summer. So I bought another one this year. We all enjoy fresh tomatoes.

Our family loves to eat artichokes! We introduce them to our kids when they are young. My children use to fight over the heart when ever we would have them.
